Xochitl Cossyleon

Hello, and welcome!  My name is Xochitl Cossyleon, and this is my 5th year in MHS. I currently teach U.S. History, World Studies, Psychology, and am the class sponsored for 2021.  I received my B.A. from the University of Detroit Mercy in Secondary Social Studies Education and Psychology. I am also currently working toward completing my master's in teaching English as a second language.

I teach because I believe education is the social equalizer in our society. As a first-generation immigrant and college graduate, I know firsthand the opportunities a quality education can provide. I take great pride in what I do because, as a history teacher, I want my students to learn from the past to shape a better future. 

In my free time, I enjoy staying active outdoors, mainly running and biking. I am also very passionate about social justice issues. I have worked with multiple non-profits organizations to help under-served communities. 

I became an educator because I genuinely believe in being the change you want to see in the world.
