This workshop will include a hands-on activity hosted by SmithGroup design professionals. Thursday May 13 at 6-7 pm For the Civil/Structural Engineering workshop this week, we will be utilizing at-home items to build a model! Please be sure to you gather these items ahead of the workshop! For this activity you will need:Cardboard (or thick paper – this could be an old cereal box/paper towel rolls/leftover packaging boxes)Rice, marbles, quinoa, couscous, beans, etc. (something around your house meant to represent soil)A container, no bigger than a shoebox (to mitigate the mess we make)ScissorsTape, glue, or another type of adhesive Optional supplies to have on hand:StringPencilsTin foil (recommended to further mitigate the mess we make)BooksRocks/gravel (“Gabion”-style wall) Please feel free to forward this WebEx invitation to anyone you know who may be interested in learning more about Civil or Structural Engineering! If you could not attend any of the informational sessions last fall – don’t worry!
