Yearbook 2020 Assignments

Seniors used to sign each others yearbooks and wish them well.  We are going to do this in a Jamboard this year which I may include in the yearbook.    Sign your name (so that I can give you credit).  Your note can be to a specific senior or to all of them in general.

Upload a photo of something to do with your page that could be used as a background. Put it in the attadched google slide. Write your name somewhere on the slide. Please use rule of thirds. Next week on Tuesday you will put these on your pages (so you will also need to upload to the yearbook)

Complete your ALT/ or fall event/sport page BEFORE the end of the semester. The yearbook is for all grades - not just seniors - so you must include 2 pictures/captions for each grade level (some exceptions by permission). Only one photo can contain you in it.

In the jamboard come up with an idea for an alternative page for the year. Include three examples of things that you would include on the page AND YOUR NAME. For example:

Scuba diving (Bruce Morse):
Pictures of our one scuba diver
Information on local scuba diving
Poll on who would or wouldn't go with quotes

After watching the video select a break out room to go to (pick a color). Not one of the other ones. You can meet with your friends. Limit the size to 3-5 people. Elect one person to speak for your group when we get back.

Discussion questions:

What is one project you could finish now during the shutdown that would make you feel like you accomplished something?

Who is one person you could reach out to that you haven't?

What photos have you gotten for yearbook so far?

Plan an adventure for you and your friends. Realistic or unrealistic. Create a google document in this assignment and describe your adventure.

Example: I'm meeting my college friends at Johnny Noodle King in Detroit next week. Never been there. It may not be epic but it's going to be an adventure. Not sure where we will go after.

Generate a list of 10 things you want to accomplish before you GRADUATE. This is your last year cards! Make it a good one. Create a google document in this assignment and make your list! Do Thursday.

In the chat please put an idea for a theme - try not to repeat others' themes.

You can use google slides, or a doc, or a jamboard or you can do it by hand and upload a photo. Anyway that works for you. Next week we will look at the designs. Due by class time on Tuesday. Questions?

The selfie should include something about you... select a background that's significant or include people that mean something to you or include a prop in your hand.

There are many ways to do this. You can hook your phone to your computer with the USB cable. I emailed myself a photo from my phone, then I opened the drive and dragged and dropped the photo in. This will be a reoccurring assignment so you need to figure this out.

The photo must include:
1. MHS students
2. Good lighting
3. Good composition (rule of thirds)

Please respond in depth (more than a sentence) to this question in the comments. Our yearbook is normally 100 pages. It costs between $55 and $65. It takes all year to get all the photos to put it together. Last year, because all spring activities were cancelled, I had to fill in approximately 30 pages of clubs, sports, and events pages that did not take place. This year, it will be the fall activities. What are we going to do with all those empty pages? Is there an alternative to a hard copy? What would that look like?
