Ms. Terry Laesser
Hello!
Bonjour!
Salut!

Xin chào!
I am a member of the Science department at Melvindale High School. This is my fourth year at MHS and my 21st year teaching! I teach Physical Science and Ap Computer Science Principles. I love being a Cardinal and part of the Cardinal Family.
I was born on a Navy base but grew up Downriver. I attended the University of Findlay in Ohio for my bachelor’s degree in Biology, then the University of Michigan to get my teaching certification. Later, I went back to the University of Michigan to obtain a master’s degree in Education and another master’s degree in Environmental Science. I’m in school right now to get an ESL endorsement added to my teaching certification. You could say I like learning…a lot.
In addition to teaching science, I coach the MHS FRC Robotics team, Retro5ive. Our team is an award-winning diverse team of mental athletes with a fierce competitive mindset. Check out our website for more information about us. Our team is open for any student to apply to, 9th-12th grade.
When I am actually away from my classroom/robot build space, I spend my time with my horses, dogs, cat, and family. My family has a small bit of home with a vegetable garden and chickens. I enjoy riding and driving my horses, reading, playing musical instruments, kayaking, scuba diving, and golfing with friends and family. When we can, we travel- I love speaking and learning other languages.
I am very excited to meet all of you and start our new year. I look forward to learning form my students as we begin a new trip through our hallways, online and in person!
