Class of 2022

Seniors, congratulations on making it to the end of your high school journey. On this page you will find all the information you need to make it through your senior year. Please make sure that you take special note of any deadlines as they are important to ensuring that you are able to fully experience the joys of your senior year. Congratulations Cardinals, the end is in sight!
The cost of the 2021-2022 ECHO is now $55.00. The price will increase after December 17, 2021 to $65, after February 11, 2022 to $70.  Students may order their books through the high school, Mr. Morse, (room 114), or you may order your yearbook online using a credit card.  Just type in and follow the directions for our school. The last day to order a yearbook is June 1, 2022; supplies are limited.
It is time to order a Proud Parent ad for your graduating senior!  Congratulate that special student in your family with a space reserved in the 2021-2022 Melvindale Echo Yearbook.  Submit anything; pictures, quotes, or special memories, and the yearbook staff will design a special section for your graduate. The deadline for submitting these ads is March 1, 2022.  Prices are as follows:
Full page = $275.00
½ page =     $150.00
¼ page =     $ 75.00
1/8 page =     $ 50.00
Prestige will be here to take senior pictures for the composite and yearbook on January 10, 2022.
$10 to have just your picture taken for yearbook/composite
$20 for picture and a copy of the composite (at the end of the year)
Please dress appropriately. No off the shoulder or low-cut shirts, no shirts with inappropriate sayings/pictures, and no hoodies.

Seniors will receive awards, scholarships, academic letters, and other honors in the high school auditorium.  
All seniors are required to complete a senior portfolio in their English class.  The portfolio consists of a resume, cover letter, letters of recommendation, and other items that will aid students as they pursue a career.  Students will focus on the electronic portfolio during the 5th and 6th marking periods, and it will be due prior to exam week.  The senior portfolio is a requirement for graduation.
Senior final exams will be given every hour each day on May 31 and June 1, 2022.  Seniors will be excused from school after examinations on June 1, 2022.  All laptop/chrome books, textbooks, library books, athletic equipment, etc. must be turned in, and all debts to the school must be settled by the end of the day on June 1, 2022.  You will not be allowed to pick up graduation tickets, and diplomas will be withheld until these matters are cleared.
All seniors expecting to graduate need to order a cap and gown by February 1, 2022 (orders can be placed on-line at as soon as possible.) Please inform Mrs. Perkins in the main office if you are not planning on walking at graduation or have a cap/gown from a previous graduate that you are wearing. If you buy your cap/gown from a 3rd party vendor other than Jostens, please make sure the make and color match.
If decorating your cap, please NO 3D – must be flat to the cap and please use good discretion and no vulgar language.  
June 7, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. - Meet in the MHS Cafeteria at 9:00 A.M. sharp.  
Full dress rehearsal means you must be in your cap and gown. 
This year’s 2022 Melvindale Graduation Commencements will be held at the Melvindale High School Cardinal Stadium June 8, 2022.  ADMISSION BY TICKET ONLY!!
Each graduate will be given 4 tickets.
Students, please enter the field by the “ticket booth” closest to Oakwood by 6:15 P.M.  Ceremony begins at 7:00 P.M. sharp. 
Gowns are not to be worn with blue jeans or shorts and must be zipped up.  Please no high heels, they can get caught in turf while walking.  The cap is worn level with the tassel on the right side.  A professional photographer has been arranged to take pictures of each senior as he/she receives a diploma.  Proofs will be mailed to the parents by the photographer at no obligation. A graduation DVD will also be available to order. 
Parents should tell their graduates to use good discretion and common sense if decorating their cars with slogans. Seniors whose cars have vulgar slogans on them will be called into the office for removal of the improper wording. Parents should also insist on acceptable behavior while attending school-sponsored activities.  Non-compliance may result in applying the School Code of Conduct. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. GRADUATES MAY FORFEIT PARTICIPATION IN ALL SUCCEEDING SENIOR ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING GRADUATION CEREMONIES.  
Senior Prom will be held May 14, 2022. Location is still to be determined.
Senior Decision Day is April 29, 2022. 
Senior Mock Interviews will be held on May 18, 2022.
