CAPSTONE PROJECT: Final Work for the End of the Year in Google Classroom

CAPSTONE PROJECT: Final Work for the End of the Year

Due to the extreme nature that this school year has presented, wrapping up the school year presents some interesting challenges.  As we approach the end of the year, each student will have the opportunity to bring their grade up to a level that they feel comfortable with by completing a CAPSTONE PROJECT.

Each course will have its own set of requirements for this project, but the deadline will ALL BE THE SAME.  It will be the student's responsibility to not only be familiar with each set of requirements but also the submission date and process.

Due:

WK 16: PIXLR Filter Practice (Glow Exercise) in Google Classroom

WK 16: PIXLR Filter Practice (Glow Exercise)

Download the attached PXZ file and open it inside of a new Pixlr web window.

We will work on this is artwork file throughout the next two days in class, however, if you wish to work ahead, you may view the attached tutorial I created in the link below.

The purpose to this assignment is to practice using and familiarizing yourself with the PIXLR tool as well as learn about their expansive FILTER option menu.

Due:

EXTRA CREDIT : "This is a Sphere..." in Google Classroom

EXTRA CREDIT : "This is a Sphere..."

insert your PXZ file here for 25 pts extra credit.

2 PT Perspective - Two Point Perspective Fantasy Building-Scape in Google Classroom

2 PT Perspective - Two Point Perspective Fantasy Building-Scape

Below you will find an attached print-out detailing everything you will need to complete the final assignment for this unit.  Be sure to familiarize yourself with each step, as well as any specific deadlines that need to be met before your final submission.  In addition to the drawing, you will be asked to answer three review questions (see below) in your COMMENTS portion of your submission:

How do you think your final art turned out?
Do you like it or not like it and why?  If you could change anything about your artwork what would it be?
Describe what you have learned about space and perspective.

*Please answer these questions in the COMMENTS section to your project submission.

Your final grade will be determined based on how well you've followed the student instructions in relation to the project requirements below:

1.  A rough draft has been submitted no later than 2 class periods after the presentation of the project is assigned and has been APPROVED for work.
2.  All 2 pt perspective rules are followed by the student:

Visible Horizon Line
Properly Spaced Vanishing Points
Horizontal and Vertical lines are specifically drawn as intended and not confused as a diagonal.
Diagonal (Orthogonal) construction lines are drawn back to proper vanishing points.

3.  Students drawing has the proper required amount of buildings and details

At least 5 buildings and with properly drawn building details (ie, doors, windows, signage)

4.  The student has made a reasonable best effort to pay attention to the consistency of their work, and the final submission is neat and free of smudges, wrinkles, tears, etc.

Due:

WK 11: City in Two-Point Perspective in Google Classroom

WK 11: City in Two-Point Perspective

We are getting close to wrapping up this "unit" on Perspective Drawing.

In preparation for your final project on this material, you are going to get an opportunity to practice some of the marks that you will need to master for the final drawing assignment.  THIS IS NOT the final assignment, just a practice, however, it will be graded, so make sure you pay close attention to the requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

Your drawing must have a VISIBLE HORIZON LINE
Your drawing must have 2 VANISHING POINTS on the sides of your Horizon line.
Each building must be started with a VERTICAL LINE and have diagonal "ORTHOGONAL" lines going back to the Vanishing Points.
Be sure to erase carefully any leftover construction lines.
A "final" version of the drawing can be found at the bottom of the handout.  Use this as an "ANSWER KEY" when making your marks.

It should be understood, that while this exercise is indeed a practice for the final project, you are getting an opportunity to see the requirements for the final project, before actually needing to work on it.  Use this opportunity as a chance to experiment, but also close identify specific characteristics of perspective drawing you will need to know.

Due:

WK 7: 2 PT Buildings, Structures and Trucks in Google Classroom

WK 7: 2 PT Buildings, Structures and Trucks

For this straight-forward exercise, you will be finishing the drawing of each object indicated in two-point perspective. Remember to follow the rules of 2 PT perspective when you draw your lines, and erase any construction marks before submitting.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
* This exercise takes what you have already practice to a new level. While this may appear like this is a way to advanced exercise, you have already worked on the begininng steps of these drawings in past exercises.
* To help guide you, I've added a little more information to the objects/drawings, rather than just a simple VERTICAL LINE edge. Understand though that each of these drawings can be traced back to ONE SIMPLE VERTICAL LINE EDGE.

Due:

WK 5: Everyday Objects in 2 PT Perspective in Google Classroom

WK 5: Everyday Objects in 2 PT Perspective

Wrapping up our 4th Card Marking, we will be taking a look at some everyday objects in 2 PT Perspective.

Using either the attached image below as a guide or working directly on top of it, I would like you to be able to draw the following objects in 2 PT Perspective:

1. Standard Table: This can be a simple coffee/end table or a full on dining table.
2. TV on a Table: This can be a standard flat screen or old school box set. Either way, be sure to use the table as a base for it to stand on.
3. Chair: Again...a simple 4 legged chair with a back to it.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

* While I understand we all have different items that we are use to in our houses, I am looking for you to keep it simple on all three of these drawings. Please DO NOT focus on some minor detail which the overwhelms you causing the final drawing to be done improperly.

*. Use the VERTICAL LINES as the CORNER to each object! PLEASE DO NOT DRAW THE OBJECT AS THOUGH IT IS FACING YOU....THAT IS INCORRECT AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE IT PROPERLY!!!!!!

(ok done yelling)

Due:

WK 4: Letters in 2 PT Perspective in Google Classroom

WK 4: Letters in 2 PT Perspective

The exercise for this week will be partnered up with an exercise for next week...
The goal here is to finish drawing each letter in two-point perspective. The line (vertical) drawn at the start represents the corner of each letter. Remember perspective drawing rules and draw the sides, bottoms/tops and edges of each letter.

Be sure to ERASE the rest of your construction lines once you've finished.

Due:

WK 3: Introduction to Two Point Perspective in Google Classroom

WK 3: Introduction to Two Point Perspective

Picking up where we left of from SEM 1, we will continue to look at PERSPECTIVE drawing and compare 1 PT PERSPECTIVE characteristic to 2 PT PERSPECTIVE characteristics.

PART 1:
The goal of this assignment is to simply be able to identify parts of a 2 PT PERSPECTIVE drawing/photo, and be able to describe those differences when trying to create the illusion of space in a drawing.

PART 2:
Now that you've confidently been able to identify 2 PT PERSPECTIVE characteristics, we will start on putting those skills to practice by following basic perspective rules and drawing simple geometeric cubes.

You will need the following materials throughout this exercise:
Sketchbook
Pencil
Eraser
Ruler/Straight Edge

Due:

WK 2: Workplace SHOW-OFF in Google Classroom

WK 2: Workplace SHOW-OFF

For our first assignment this second semester, I'd like to follow the same path we took back in September and highlight something about ourselves.

This week, I'd like you to take a photograph of your workspace, and label and identify 10 objects or things that you enjoy about this area, or help you focus as you settle in for work. These could be your favorite pens or books, or simply an area in the room that you feel the most comfortable in. You may use any digital means to complete this task (Google Slides, PowerPoint, or mobile app).*

Once you've completed this task, I'd like you to explain 3 items in this area (using the COMMENTS area when you submit this work) that you personally identify with and mean the most to you you. You can talk about why they are so important and what they represent. You can even discuss their origin and how you came into possession of these objects.

When you've completed this task, you will have a digital photograph with labels to submit, as well as a short write-up in the COMMENTS section of your submission that I will be able to review.
